The New Millennial Gay Experience

Big news from New Jersey. Gay marriages can take place as of Monday! The Supreme Court denied the state's request to put a stay on a lower court's order allowing gay marriages while the overall marriage equality case is being heard. This does not mean marriage equality is complete, however. Today's ruling just lifts the stay, it doesn't deal with the substantive case. That will be decided by the Supreme Court in the coming months. But in the meantime marriages can go forward.
As I understand it, the court was unlikely to lift the stay if they felt that the state had a decent chance to win the primary case. So it looks good for permanent equality in the next year. But in the meantime people can get married beginning Monday!
